1. General Rules of the Sport

  • All riders must follow official Cycle Speedway rules during racing.
  • Races are run on a dirt oval track, usually four laps per race.
  • No unsafe riding is allowed; sportsmanship is essential.
  • Riders must line up at the start line and wait for the official signal.
  • Overtaking must be done safely; reckless moves may result in disqualification.

2. Rider Requirements

  • Riders must have a registered membership with the club.
  • Bikes must meet Cycle Speedway specifications (single-speed, no brakes).
  • Riders must wear approved helmets, gloves, and closed-toe shoes at all times.
  • Additional protective gear (knee pads, elbow pads, long-sleeved jerseys) is strongly recommended.
  • Tiny Tots and beginner riders can have parent or guardian supervision around the track.

3. Track Safety

  • Only riders, officials, and pit crew are allowed on the track during racing.
  • Spectators should remain behind the safety barriers at all times.
  • Riders must follow referees instructions at all times.
  • Bikes should be checked for mechanical safety before every race.

4. Membership & Behaviour

  • Memberships is free for the first year.
  • All riders, parents, and supporters must respect club policies including:
  • Child Safe Environment Policy
  • Australian Cycle Speedway Drug and Alcohol Policy
  • Social Media Policy
  • Code of Conduct
  • Unsportsmanlike behaviour, bullying, or abuse may result in suspension or expulsion from the club.

5. Race Day Guidelines

  • Make sure your bike is ready and safe before lining up.
  • Listen for announcements and heat assignments from officials.
  • Parents and guardians should assist Tiny Tots and beginner riders with preparation.
  • Participation trophies and awards are given to encourage skill development and fun.

6. Special Categories

  • Tiny Tots: Non-competitive grade for young riders; participation is focused on fun and confidence-building.
  • Mum’s Grade & Female Riders: Equal opportunity for all ages and skill levels; encouraged to participate.
  • Competitive Grades: Follow the official scoring and ranking system for points and championships.
